This is Course 1 of a series of 4 fundamental on-line classes. An estimated release date for the series is listed below. Each course is designed to be a stand-alone program and also serve as a building block for the following course. This series is designed for beginners as well as intermediate photographers, who may be producing good images ad hoc, but desire to have a greater understanding of basic principles of photography and a progressive foundation, enabling them to advance their vision and image quality.
 
This first course Creating Images That Inspire is for photographers who seek to begin a path toward acquiring skill levels that will elevate their ability to consistently create moving, powerful and inspiring images across a range of photographic genre. You will be guided away from taking snapshots to "making" images with purpose and meaning.

Fundamentals of Photography – Level 1: Creating Images That Inspire
COURSE OUTLINE - What you will learn...

Overview:
This course introduces you to your camera’s Image Modes. Then you will learn the full process of manual settings, to create better images – ISO, shutter speed and f/Stop. You will learn about the advantages and disadvantages and correct selection of the main file formats – RAW, TIFF & JPEG. You will gain a thorough understanding and application of The Rule of Thirds, about the Power of Triangles and managing/controlling Depth of Field. Finally, you will be introduced to principles of defining your emotional perceptions, in order to dramatically improve your composition. 

1. WEEK 1 - The Primer
Learn the critical and all-important Functions and Image Modes of your camera - Manual, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Auto-Continuous Focus, Self Timer, White Balance...
Learn about lenses, focal length and which ones you need...
Assignments: Create 6 images which show your understanding of camera functions and their application for creativity.

2. WEEK 2 - Principles of Photography
Learn about file formats (RAW vs. TIFF vs. JPEG), ISO, grain / noise and image quality...
Learn how to shoot on Manual, for full image quality control...Never go back to "automatic"...
Learn how to select shutter speeds, f/Stops and what Aperture is...
Learn about Perspective...
Assignments: Create 4 images showing that you understand how to successfully and consistently shoot in Manual Mode...Still Life, Action & The Wind, Beauty In Details (macro), Depth of Field, etc.


3. WEEK 3 - Composition
Learn how to apply the Rule of Thirds successfully, about the Power of Triangles and managing/ controlling Depth of Field...
Assignments: Create 5 images showing successful understanding of Rule of Thirds, The Power of Triangles, Depth of field and Perspective, in order to create images with visual impact and balance…
4. WEEK 4 - Shooting With A Purpose
Learn about the Principles of Perception, Definition of your perceived emotions and Presentation...
Assignments: Create 4 images that show your understanding and application of the 3 foundation aspects of art - Perception, Definition and Presentation...
With this assignment you will apply the knowledge and experience you have gained throughout the course...

Each week you will submit images from the assignments. You and I will communicate directly via e-mail. I will critique each image and make you aware of both the good and what can be improved to strengthen each image.

Images will be uploaded to a private group and lesson website folder. You will be able to interact and communicate with other photographers and read all critiques, so that you can learn from the exchange of ideas.

After completing this course, Fundamentals of Photography – Level 1: Creating Images That Inspire, you will have a solid foundation on which to build and develop your skills as a photographer.
Upon completion of the series, you will create images with a level of creativity you may not have thought possible.

Cost of each On-Line, 4 week course: $175
Payments: Through PayPal - major credit cards accepted
Course Duration: 4 weeks
Material: A complete 60 page document. Each week is released separately.
Limit: Each course is limited to 15 photographers
First Course Start: December 1, 2010

PROMOTION: First 50 registrations - $175. Afterwards - $225
Cancellation: A 50% refund will be given after the first lesson is released, if a written request for cancellation is received before the second lesson is released. No refunds allowed after the second lesson has been released. Photographers who cancel before the second lesson is released, may keep the first week’s lesson, but will not receive further lessons. Photographers who have paid in full, but do not complete lessons, will receive all lessons, but will receive critiques only for images submitted within the 4 week course time. No certificate of completion will be given, unless all assignments are submitted and the course has been completed.
